The "New Health Insurance scheme" introduced for the Government Employees with effect from 11.6.2008 as per Govt. Letter No.10063/Finance (Salaries)/ 2009-1 Dated 7.3.2009. Subsequently the Government have extended the New Health Insurance Scheme beyond 30.06.2016 for a further period of four years with some additional features. The New Health Insurance Scheme, 2016 is being implemented from 01-07-2016 through United India Insurance Company Limited, Chennai, a Public Sector Undertaking. This scheme aims to provide health care assistance to the employees of Government Departments, Local Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, Statutory boards and State Government Universities, willing State Government Organizations /Institutions and their eligible family members with provision to avail assistance upto Rupees Four Lakh for a block of four years (2016-2020). A monthly subscription of Rs.180/- is being recovered as subscription.
Under the new scheme, the medical assistance has been enhanced to the maximum limit of Rs.7.50 lakh for some specified diseases/treatments.
The coverage of medical assistance under this scheme has been extended to emergency and accident cases, where the patient got approved treatment/undergone surgery in a non-network hospital.
Under this Scheme, 113 treatments and surgical procedures are covered on 59 treatments and surgeries and 54 medical care procedures cashless basis through 987 networked hospitals located in Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and NewDelhi.
NEW HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME FOR PENSIONERS
The New Health Insurance Scheme for pensioners have been introduced during the year 2014 for a block for four years and extended for a further period of four years from 01.07.2018 with some additional features.
New Health Insurance Scheme for Pensioners 2018 has been implemented through United India Insurance Company Ltd. to provide health care assistance to the Pensioners (including spouse)/Family Pensioners on a CASHLESS basis, with provision to avail medical assistance up to Rupees Four lakh for a block period of four years (2018-2022). A monthly subscription of Rs.350/-is being recovered from the Pension of the Pensioners/Family Pensioners.
Under this Scheme, 114 treatments and surgical procedures are covered on 60 treatments and surgeries and 54 medical care procedures cashless basis through 986 networked hospitals located in Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and NewDelhi.
